Structure of the Government of Africa
Below is an illustration of the organic relationships between Africa's national institutions, and the African public. Africa is a federal republic consisting of five regions made up of 54 primary states, as well as hundreds of provinces and subsidiary states, districts and municipalities.
The government of Africa is led by the Head of State, who is elected as president of the Pan African Parliament. Different levels of government cooperate and have jurisdiction over different functions and responsibilities. The current president of Africa is Gertrude Mongella.
