PAN AFRICAN PARLIAMENT IS ALLOWING ITSELF TO BE BYPASSED
Article by Pomet Matarunga
Dear AUF Secretary,
I would suggest that the AU Pan-African Parliament should not be praised for anything at the moment because it has not shown any concrete committment to Pan-Africanism.
It has disregarded the advocacy of stationing itself in Addis Ababa, it has failed to take action in Sudan and in the decisions of locating the African Banks congruently according to the regional symmetry, and it allows itself be bypassed by institutions of the AU in decision-making; thus, allowing frequent erratic and myopic decisions made in the AU, e.g. from the appointment of chairmanships of anything, to the mandate of the Peace-keeping troops.
I also wonder what is the "AU Council of the Wise" doing while things are so deteriorating since the times of Hon. Amara Essy and Hon. J. Chissano. AUF needs a newspaper or a magazine where things can be written to wake up the bureaucracy in Addis Ababa.
