AFRICAN FRONT MESSAGE OF SUPPORT FOR DONALD KABERUKA
By Dan Kashagama:
Fellow Africans,
I would like to take this chance to congratulate Donald Kaberuka on his successful election to his first term as president of the African Development Bank, currently rated as the world's best-managed bank, and also the largest bank in Africa.
Donald Kaberuka, President of the ADB
It is absolutely clear that Kaberuka has the capacity to make the ADB an even greater bank, and it is my wish that he can return it to the vision of the Bank's founder, Alexander Romeo Horton, a Pan-African visionary from Liberia, who hoped that the bank would be the engine of African Unity and prosperity.
Kaberuka has said that he won't be "a puppet" of foreign interests, and has affirmed every time that he is "Africa's candidate". Kaberuka has said that he would not discriminate between Africans, but that he "will work for all of Africa, from the Cape to Cairo, from East to West."
It is especially clear that Africa needs a strong and independent Pan African Parliament, a single currency, and an integrated and culturally responsible economic system. I would like to pledge the support of the AUF for the new ADB president, and promise to do my best to help him in this great task to strengthen African unity.
Best regards,
Dan Kashagama
AUF General Secretary
