AUF FORESTRY POLICY

The AUF will promote and is seeking to establish a massive re-forestation program, to recover forest lands that have been destroyed, and to institute a responsible forest management program across the entire African Union.

Moreover, the AUF will put to a stop the logging of old growth forest, and declare protected zones around forests habitats that are important for the survival of diversity in the African ecosystem. Because states tend to exploit their forests without regard for the forests in other states, entire regions lack a coherent forest program, and yet the effects of deforestation in one state impacts on neighbouring states, causing drought or extinction of migratory animals. The AUF will implement a coherent continent wide forest management plan.
